We’re all looking for a “feel good Jesus.” We want a nice, comfortable relationship with God, not one that will challenge us and push us to grow into our full potential. For those of you who have children, you know that there are times, as parents, when our kids don’t “feel good” about their relationship with us. They want to do things their way, but we have a standard and an expectation for them that challenges them to do things differently. Sometimes we even have to apply a little “pressure” in their direction to help them make the right choices. Not fun. Not easy. But that’s what being a “son” is all about.
So, my question for all of us is this: are we true sons of God or are we bastards? Do we seek after the correction that comes from the Holy Ghost, ensuring that we are obtaining all that we have inherited in the faith, or are we running from a real relationship with God?
There are many qualities of sonship. There are also many requirements of sons. Let’s look at them in this series…. Quit Being a Bastard!
