Have you ever watched a movie, and during the movie there is a scene that is planted in your mind that keeps replaying over and over. We have things happen to us as children, teens, and even as adults. Some things we had no control over. Just like a movie we replay these scenarios in our mind. We can even be going about our daily routine, and that one scene in our life keeps popping its ugly head up.
This happened to me just the other day, and it was just like I was right back in that situation again. I could tell you word for word what was said, where I was standing, and everything else that went with it. When this happened to me, I had to shake myself. I said, “I’m not there anymore.” I had to say this several times. Also I said out loud, “I forgive, release, and surrender all who have rejected, betrayed, and abused me.” This is not the first time that I’ve had to do this. Things in us go away by degrees.
It might be resentment, bitterness, hate, death, or unforgiveness. The devil knows exactly what’s in us to put us at a standstill. I refuse to let the enemy have that kind of power over me anymore. I ask God on a regular basis to show me if I have unforgiveness toward anyone. He will do the same for you. All you need to do is ask Him, and He will show you, too.
The Word tells us to renew our minds daily with the Word of God. Don’t let the devil keep playing mind games with you. It says in Proverbs 4:23, “Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all slideshow distractions.” (MSG)
The only thing the enemy has to work with is in us. As children of God we need to think on things that are pure, lovely, and of a good report. Look at the life of Jesus, and how bad he was mistreated. I know He had to fight those same thoughts that we think, but His was on a higher level. Since He was our example, let us strive to be more like Him.
